People in Wakinikona have a lot of disposable income…

Ben Churchill, Director of Marketing and promotions for Dancing Cat records says he’s surprised by the amount of money people in Washington spend on Hawaiian music and concerts.  “I’m amazed at the number of non-Hawaiians in the area that buy CD’s and attend our concerts.”  He says they sell more CD’s in this area than any other area on the West Coast.

Kealii Reichel Hawai`i’s number one recording artist, whose been on the Hawai`i Radio Connection show several times jokes, “It’s amazing how many people come out to our concerts.  They must be really home sick or something!?!?”

His Producer Fred Krause says he’s also impressed with the Seattle/Tacoma Market.  “The local people in the area seem to have a lot of disposable income because whenever we have a concert our CD sales go way up!”

Kata Maduli, Producer at Mount Kahili Productions, has brought many Hawaiian Artists to Washington.  After a concert they always sell CD’s.  He says, “We can never bring enough, we always sell out.  Every year we increase the amount we bring to Washington and every year, no fail, we don’t bring enough.”
